"Love Song as a Universal Language" has been showcased in Budapest, for the "Samtidighed" exhibition at FKSE Gallery. It is an experimental audio project that explores the ability of music to convey emotions universally. The project is grounded in the idea that anyone can recognise a love song regardless of their origin or historical context.
Focusing on instrumental and ambient sounds, the song is a blend of different types of bells, synth organ, birds chirping, wind blowing, rain, reverberating vocals and drones.
The inspiration for this project came from Ted Gioia's "The History of Love Song", which posits that love songs are universally recognisable and impactful, regardless of their era, regardless of listener's education in music. This idea motivated me to create a piece that strips away linguistic elements, relying solely on the universal language of music to communicate the feelings of love and pain.
Through this piece, I hope to remind listeners of the unifying power of sound and to offer an auditory experience that highlights the timeless and cross-cultural nature of music.
