sunt şi nu sunt a mea
"Through the two audio works, Adina Oros creates a juxtaposition between the protest movements that have taken place in Romania in recent months—sparked by the authorities’ passivity in the face of violence against women—and forced obedience. While the ambient sound begins powerfully, with chants recorded in the streets, these gradually become distorted, marked by external imperatives, flattening into a heavy silence. With the silence comes resignation and the acceptance of a performative life, carried out to please others and to serve. Yet, the intergenerational anger eventually bursts out, bringing us back to chants and protests—a complete cycle.
The second sound piece zooms in on the ways household chores are imposed on women from childhood, shaping them into submissive personalities, rarely given the chance to discover what they truly enjoy or want to pursue."
